5 FAVs with Darius Syrossian

Darius Syrossian is a UK producer, DJ and record label owner. His career started more than fifteen years ago in a record store where he started collecting a vast variety of different music. For the last few years, Darius has been one of the most consistent artists with house music community. His music has regularly been released via imprints such as Hot Creations, Snatch!, 8bit and his own Do Not Sleep which has also been the synonym for superb Ibiza parties in Amnesia that hosted Cassy, Alan Fitzpatrick, Danny Tenaglia, Anja Schneider, and many others.

We invited Darius to our 5FAVs article prior to his Hot Creations release which is set for 23rd November.

“Fantastic example of a track that can be used as a perfect tool by the DJ to bring fire to the dancefloor yet doesn't conform to the same generic lazy tech house fodder that seems to be everywhere at the moment, lots of depth in the track and lots of thought given to the drum programming. Which seems to be overlooked these days.”

“One of my favourite producers at the moment, Luuk Van Dijk has been consistently churning our belter after belter. His tracks always have a really hypnotic flavour but a thumping kick, and the groove in all his tracks always grabs you by the throat and drags you to the dance-floor.”

“I have been a Robert Hood fan from day one and whilst listening to his Floorplan Boiler room I was inspired to make something I would expect him to play on that set, a thumping Disco & Techno crossover. It came together really quick in the studio, all the ideas were in my head and it all came out really fast, I road tested it that weekend and it blew the place up. I then also made a heavier Techno Tool version to go on the e.p, this is the original.”

"On New Year's Eve this year I'm playing a special 3hour vinyl only set in Manchester consisting of tracks from 1998 summer of love to 2018 the present day, everything from Acid, to House to Techno to mark exactly 20 years of music since that infamous year. Whilst going through my collection of thousands of vinyl that I collected from years working at Global Beat & Crash Records I came across this golden oldie. Pretty much every release on Wagon repair is a gem. This one from Mathew Jonson is a masterpiece of music production, I pulled it out to start playing again, not just for the special NYE set either."

"Came across this a couple of days before my set at for Paradise at ADE Amsterdam and it blew the roof off the place. Matthias Tanzman has done a fantastic job with his Moon Harbour label, the consistency and quality of the releases are fantastic. This one has an infectious lead running through the entire track yet keeps it simple, less is more, and this one is a peak time bomb."
